This is a particularly interesting project for a returning customer. Six months after we completed their full house refurbishment with a rear extension, the customer decided to build an outbuilding in the garden featuring a gym, sauna, and shower facilities. To achieve extra height, as the customer is quite tall, we had to excavate half a meter into the ground.
This structure boasts not only a robust structural build but also fireproofing, underfloor heating, proper thermal insulation, and natural wood cladding on the interior. The exterior features fire-rated composite cladding, along with two soakaways, a water supply, and many other custom-made elements. These features make this gym and sauna not only visually stunning but also a highly durable and solid structure.
Challenges and Solutions:
The main challenge was a neighbor who was very particular about the boundary. I assisted my client in identifying the boundary line using the title deeds and our measurement tools.
Another significant challenge was accommodating a sauna, gym, and shower room with a cold-water splash into the internal layout. We had to use an integrated guttering system and carefully measure every inch to maximize the available space as much as possible.
In the end, all the hard work paid off, and the result turned out quite well.
