We completed this new build in 2023.
It was a very complex project, requiring us to demolish the existing semi-detached house and build a new one with a wraparound extension, effectively doubling its size. Additionally, we had to lower the entire house and garden by 0.5 meters and reshape the garden’s landscape to create a beautiful Chelsea-style Garden.
The ground floor features a huge open-plan design, supported by very complex structural work. The entire ground and first floors are equipped with underfloor heating. The house also boasts a stunning glass and metal staircase, shadow gaps throughout, and numerous architectural, structural, and decorative features. This house is not only visually stunning but also exceptionally well-built, with no corners cut at any stage of its development.
Challenges and Solutions:
There were several challenges: difficult neighbors caused the project to be halted for a month during the initial stages. This was followed by changes to structural elements and additional modifications requested by the clients, which led to further delays. The most significant challenge was the clients’ decision to employ separate subcontractors, who were not part of the Combit team, in an attempt to save costs. Ultimately, this decision resulted in time delays, frustrations, and additional expenses for the clients. We faced stressful moments while working to bring order to the chaos. Despite these challenges, we successfully completed the project, with all required tests and certificates signed off, and, most importantly, satisfied clients in the end.
